Count Me Out of The CCB Amendment Bill -Sen Abu Ibrahim (Katsina South)

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Abu Ibrahim (APC,  Katsina South) yesterday denied supporting the bill seeking the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal.

The bill, sponsored by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP Delta North), tagged, “A bill for an Act to amend the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15,LFN,2004; and Other Related Matters,” passed through first and second reading in 48 hours last week.

In a statement by his media assistant, Gabriel Agbonika, Ibrahim said he had never seen the bill nor participated in the debate leading to its speedy second reading.

“I left  the National Assembly on Thursday 14th April, 2016 at 11:20,  after dropping a letter to the Senate president, notifying him of my medical trip to Egypt.

“Apart from Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and few other senators, whom I had personal discussions with before leaving for the airport at 11: 30, I was not around to participate in the so-called second reading and passage of the bill on CCB amendment.”
