Fall In Oil Revenue: Katsina Local Gov’ts Can’t Execute Capital Project From The Federal Revenue -Gov Masari
Katsina State Governor Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari said no local government in the state could execute any capital project with the revenue from the federation account. The Governor stated this while receiving the report of the committee set-up to verify the omitted local government staff at his office in Muhammadu Buhari House council chamber, Katsina.
The Governor also disclosed that the 34 local governments received a monthly income of a little over N3 billion from the federation account while the wage bill of same including salaries and pensions of their staff and deduction of emirate council amounts to over N3.7 billion.
The Governor however lamented that the Internally Generated revenue (IGR) is being monthly shared between local councils officials adding that they should have the fear of God.
The Governor also assured that the state government will look into the figure of 2,200 staff screened and verified to see if there is fraud in their appointment adding that government will take action appropriately to correct the anomaly.
He then thanked the committee members for performing a job well done.
Earlier the chairman of the committee who is also the permanent secretary in the state ministry of agriculture -Alhaji Sulaiman Nuhu Safana revealed that the committee screened the total number of 2870 affected staff across the local governments in the state out of which 66 staffs were rejected due to anomalies in their recruitment.
