H.E. the Governor of Katsina State RT Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has disclosed that local governments in the state will no longer receive over head cost from the state government. He governor who confirmed this at the Town hall meeting he held at Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency yesterday (Saturday) in Mashi local government secretariat.
The governor explained that henceforth, the revenue collected by the local governments will serve as the overhead. He however said the state government will intervene in some local governments especially those without ‘big markets’ through devising means that will help them.
The governor further said the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) is only a paltry sum of N400 million and despite that the state government was able to sustained the payment of local government staff salaries.
