Katsina To Be Generating Over 200MW of Electricity In 2018 – Gov Masari

Katsina State will overcome its energy challenges by the year 2018,  Governor Aminu Bello Masari has said.


Speaking yesterday at a briefing on the forthcoming economic and investment summit in the state, Masari said currently the state was managing with just 10mw electricity allocation from the national grid. He, however, said with the ongoing solar and wind power projects in the state,  about 200mw of electricity would be provided.

The governor said two solar projects which commenced recently in the state would generate 85mw and 125mw. He said the project would be completed next year ending, while the wind power project that would provide 10mw was 90 per cent ready and would be completed soon.

“We are in government to lay foundation for generations to come, not to play politics. We are determined to provide all-enabling environment for  genuine investors that are ready in invest in the state,” he said

The chairman of the Summit Organising Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Jikamshi, said the event, slated for May 9-11, would attract at least 140 investors and enterprises from within and outside the country.

He said the purpose of the summit was to provide a platform for dialogue and networking and showcase potentials of the state to investors.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari, Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, were among dignitaries expected to grace the event.
