The transaharan trade which gave birth to the legend of Al-maghili el-kashnawi, Dan-masani and the Dan Takum among others manifested as a permanent land mark for the existence of all forms of knowledge in Katsina. Similarly the coming of Lord Luggard significantly marked the establishment of western learning in Katsina through the establishment of Katsina College, where most northern leaders and elites like Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, Ahmadu Commassie, Abubakar Tabawa Balewa (Dan-masanin Kano) and several others attended, thus clearly manifested the quest for and store of knowledge by the Katsinawa’s in northern Nigeria.Katsina State is currently blessed with three 3 Universities, 2 Colleges of Education with degree awarding status, one polytechnic, about three monotechnic in Daura, Katsina and Funtua, Apart from the over four hundred privately owned primary/ secondary schools and about five hundred(500) public secondary schools across the state. The coming up of indigenous Islamic scholars like Mallam Na’alhaji who was believed to have come from Kwami village of Batagarawa Local Government drew another light on the quest for knowledge by the Yandakawa dynasty in Tsauri, Kurfi, Dutsin-ma and Dan-musa towns.
