After Kaduna, Katsina Police Command announces banning of ‘Ashura rally’ in the state


The Katsina State Police command has announced the banning of all rallies and public gatherings by any group of people in any guise across the state. 


The statement signed by the Katsina State Police command public relation officer ASP Salisu Abubakar Agaisa stated that any person or group of persons caught violating the order will be deltwith and prosecuted accordingly.

The command urges parents and guidance to closely monitor the movement of their children from mixing up with unscrupulous elements in the society.

Readers may wish to know that tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday has been declared 9th and 10th Muharram popularly known as the Tasu’a and Ashura where by the Shi’a sect are known to be organising public rallies especially on the 10th (Ashura) which according to their believe is a day to show their agony for the killing of Imam Hussain RA.

Many commentators believe that this ban of public rallies by the Police has to be connected with the said upcoming event and the impending looming crises that may accompanied it.

KATSINA POST gathered that same gathering was also banned in the neighbouring Kaduna Sate.
