Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has declared the state government’s readiness to support any move by the Federal Government to develop sports in the country.

Masari made the declaration at the end of the 8th Nigerian Air Force Games in Katsina on Saturday.

The governor said, “As we bring these Games to a successful end, I wish to reiterate the commitment of the Katsina State Government to partner the Federal Government and its agencies as well as other stakeholders in promoting the fortunes of our youth through sports.”

Masari promised that his administration would begin the construction of the second phase of the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium and the rehabilitation of other sports facilities in the state.

He praised the athletes for their performances during the weeklong competition.

Headquarters Training Command, Kaduna, won the Games with 21 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze.

Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Abuja, came second with 19 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze while Headquarters, Logistics Command, Lagos, placed third with 13 gold, eight silver and 15 bronze.

Highlights of the closing ceremony included the display by the Nigeria Air Force aircraft, cultural display and a novelty match between the Chief of Air Staff football team and the Katsina State Government team, which ended 2 -1 in favour of the former.
