In line with the latest directive from the League Management Company that only coaches with CAF License A and B should coach in the Nigerian Professional Football League, Katsina United have announced the appointment of Bala Nyiku and Baldwin Bazuaye as coaches.
Disclosing this yesterday, the chairman of Katsina United Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi said the two coaches were picked ahead of many others because of their wealth of experience and knowledge of the game.
He therefore said the management of the club believes that the two gentlemen would competently guide the newly promoted club in Nigerian topflight.
Kurfi also said the two coaches will soon be unveiled at an elaborate ceremony at the Karankanda stadium in Katsina.
“It did not take us long to settle for the two coaches because of their track records in Nigerian football.
“Having coached FC Abuja, Nasarawa United, Niger Tornadoes, Wikki Tourists and Plateau United, Bala Nyiku is not new to the Nigerian Professional Football League.
“Moreover, his experience as assistant coach of the Super Falcons and now the Flamingoes is worthy of mention.
“And Bazuaye who is joining us from Mighty Jets is a known name. He won the first FIFA U-17 World Cup with the golden Eagles and represented Nigeria at the senior level.
“He is also technically sound and will provide the needed assistance for the team to do well in the NPFL,” he said.
Kurfi also dropped the hint that a sound expatriate coach would soon be engaged to serve as Technical Director to the team.
He said the two indigenous coaches would work under the foreign coach who has a vast knowledge of African football.
“We are also discussing with a foreign coach who is willing to come and help us in the area of technical.
“He will serve the team as Technical Director while Nyiku would be the Technical Adviser.
“With this combination, I believe Katsina United will be the team to beat in the NPFL,” he stated.
