The Nigeria Labour Congress Katsina state chapter has described workers in the state as the best workers in the country. The description was made by the state NLC chairman comrade Tanimu Lawal Saulawa in an interview with newsmen in Katsina.
According to him, the workers in the state are always productive while abiding by the law governed by the rule of law in the state and the country at large.“Our hope is to motivate the workers always to put in their best for the states development and the country at large.”
On the issue of proposed minimum wage for the workers suggessted by the national body of the NLC, Comrade Tanimu shows optimisim that the Masari led-administrition will implement it swiftly for the states workers when approved by the federal government.
“If the federal government has implemented the proposed minimum wage I am hopeful and praying that Katsina will be among the first state to implement it for the benefit and betterment of workers in the state.” He said
“After complimenting the state governor on workers day for the prompt payment of salaries, we still have some issues to be address which includes; settlements of the oustanding gratuities for the retirees in the state.” He added
According to him, even after the bail out funds released to the state by the federal government, there are still some reminants of retirees that are yet to be settled in the state.
“I have to appeal to the state governor to looked into the issue possibily to direct the committee assigned to speedup and pay the retirees which is their own legitimate right once and for all.”
The NLC boss however appeals to the state governor to also looked into the issue of CONHESS salary scheme that is yet to be resolved for some eligible healths workers in the local government.
