Katsina state commissioner of commerce and industry and tourism Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf has disclosed plan by the governor Aminu Masari led-administration to establish a refinery in the state.
Yusuf who disclosed this during the commissioning of the PVC and Vinyl Tube production lines managed by an indian firm, AMPRI Global limiteds in Kankia local government area of the state.
According to him, the refinery will be established in Mashi local government area of the state.
He said already approval has been granted for the request as hectors of land were already tenable for the establishment of the refinery.
The commissioner said all stakeholders are working round the clock to reach and achieve industrial target.
In his remarks, Governor Aminu Bello Masari expressed it readiness to revive moribund industries owned by the government and put to utilizations in the state.
Governor Masari who promised to revive the industries also expressed his readiness to ensure the industries are back to full use through private participation and partnership with investors.
He said reviving the industries will help address youth unemployment and restiveness. Masari however said the over dependence on the government is largely responsible for the unemployment rate in the country saying government at all levels cannot provide jobs for all.
The moribund industries to be revived in the state include Kaura Leather works, Mani Flour mills, Funtua Burnt Bricks and Danja Sugar factory to mention but a few.
