Katsina state government will establish three FM radio stations to boost information dissemination and media coverage of public and private activities, General Manager, Katsina State Radio Services, Alhaji Sani Bala, has said.
Bala made the statement on Thursday when he led the management of the station on a condolence visit on the emir of Daura over the death of a senior council member, Alhaji Hamisu Haruna.
Bala said that the stations would be sited in Daura, Funtua and Katsina.
He said the establishment of the stations would generate additional employment and wider media coverage of the activities of the government.
He added that the stations would also provide complementary services to the state radio station in Katsina.
The GM said the government was making efforts to provide ultra-modern equipment for the state radio station.
He said the management of the state radio was making arrangements to commemorate its 30-year anniversary.
Responding, the emir of Daura Alhaji Farouk Umar, commended the decision of the government to establish the radio stations, adding that it would promote the development of the people.
He said his palace would support the media, stressing that the media is a veritable tool for national development and cohesion.
“I will personally discuss with the state governor to ensure that your station is equipped, “he said, and commended GM for his commitment and dedication to duty.
Bala was recently appointed the substantive general manager of the Katsina state radio services. (NAN)
