The bill to allow the use of Card reader in local government elections in Katsina State passes second reading.
Katsina stae house of assembly has proposed the use of card readers in the forth coming local government elections in the state.
The proposal is contained in the report submitted on the floor of the House by the House committee on administration by Honourable Murtala Ado Kaita who is the chairman of the committee.
In the report, the total of six clauses were amended in the Katsina State electoral act 2000 which includes the inclusion of the use of card reader in elections and also increase and in some cases reduction of penalty to some of the electoral offences.
While debating of the bill, the House Leader Honourable Hambali Faruk (APC, Katsina LGA) said the bill if passed will go along way in improving the quality and integrity of elections in the state.
On his part, the Speaker of the House Honorable Abubakar Yahaya Kusada also throw his back on the bill and stated that it will be considered for third reading and subsequently passed into law as soon as possible.
