Katsina State security agents has arrested and detained activist in person of Commrade Ibrahim Bature over his video circulating on social media criticising Governor Aminu Bello Masari on the recent $110m loan he is planing to acquire for the state.
News reaching us at KATSINA POST has it that the activist was picked up by the men of the security agents in Katsina and subsequently locked him up in the VIP cell of the State Investigation Bureau (SIB) in the state capital.
The video as seen by our reporter showed the activist wearing brown kaptan with no cap speaking in both Hausa and English criticising the Katsina State government under the leadership of H.E. Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari over his plan to access a loan amounting to $110m from Islamic Development Bank.
In one of the video, Commrade Ibrahim was seen to have said: “…if indeed you are a true Governor of the masses of the state, then you should as a matter of urgency suspend the idea as we -the masses are not in support of it, enough of this nonsense.”
He continued: “It is not possible for you to be placing loan burden on us. We will not take it. We are the future of this state…”
However, soon after he publicised it, he then followed it up with another on apologising for his use of the abusive word ‘nonsense’ while also maintaining his earlier stance that he is not in support of the loan.
Already conflicting views have started dominating the spaces of the state’s social media platforms with many accusing the state government with trying to silence its critics while many others believe the activist had ‘crossed red line’ by his statement saying ‘enough of this nonsense’ which they consider abusive and inappropriate.
But according to our findings, the S. A. to the Governor on New Media Abdulhadi Ahmad Bawa who visited the activist in detention stated that the Governor has no hand in it.
On the other hand, all our efforts to contact the security operatives in the state to hear from them proves abortive.
