The Katsina state government has aside over N2 billion for renovation and construction of classrooms across the state.
The Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) made the disclosure at the 2017 merit award presentation of the Local Government Education Authority Batagarawa Local Government.
The SUBEB Chairman represented by the secretary Alhaji Isyaku Bello said the state government has awarded N20 million for purchasing chalk and other materials for distribution to primary schools across the state.
He urged the retirees to give their best to the development of the education in Katsina state.
Speaking, the education secretary of the local government Dr. Garba Idris Yargamji said the award meant to commensurate with the retirees for the services rendered to education sector and state in general.
In vote of thanks, the head of administration Batagarawa L.G Shuaibu Riko called on the board to reward teachers in the state.
He however applauded Katsina Govt. for settling pensions and gratuities in the state
